Perhaps Microsoft should have a "switch" campaign like Apple for the Zune. Showing all the wonderful things like radio and squirting music and photos.
Wonderful equals bad taste?

I like the wall paper... Which Orbiter and where'd ya get it? :)
It's Discovery and the image is a combination of 2 photos from NASA's HSF Gallery. You can get it on my dA: http://trekkie604.deviantart.com/art/Shuttle-into-the-Blue-138883539
How do you like the Dash? Saw one on woot the other day.
Not bad, I have it displaying Twitter feeds, NHL scores and weather mostly. If I hadn't have got it for a discount, I'd say the MSRP isn't worth it for the features it has.

Because this is MacRumors which has more Sony fans that Mac fans
Heck, I have a Sony RP television. I love Sony TVs. And I'm no MS fan.
But HD DVD just plain looks better than BD at this point, and for much less money. (And I can actually get some decent movies for it!)

... and what you'd loose when the disk goes bad
so just burn two :)
or just wait until ferroelectric memory comes out- imagine having the equivalent of a few 500GB external HDs in a device the size of a small thumb drive, solid state but without any heads to crash- the capacity of huge HDs, the reliability and ability to maintain data without power of flash memory, and access speed like RAM.

The switcheasy color looks good, and it's cheap, but this griffin one (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/flexgrip-action-touch4g) also looks good and this Speck pixelskin (http://www.speckproducts.com/ipod-audio/ipod-touch-4th-gen/pixelskin-black-1501.html) too, but the griffin one seems to be shock/drop proof (at least more so than the other 2).

Microsoft lost billions on the Xbox and likely to lose hundreds of millions on their Zune attempt. iPod sales have been profitable for Apple since their introduction. How one measures success in this industry can't always be marketshare.
One of the best points I've read so far - and one that I wish more people would apply to Apple's share in the computer market...:)

This is so that each eye receives 24fps for 3d. So finally 3d will now look like a 3d "movie" rather than a 3d flip book.
Thanks. I missed the 3D.

My title for my first job after Grad school in 1984 was Applications Engineer, my next job in 1987 was Applications Manager. Do you think I have a case against apple using a variation of my old title??? At any rate, I would happy settle of a them giving me the latest iPhone, iPad and a MBP of choice every two years for life ;)

I just installed DP2 onto a blank partition on a spare disk.
What I did:
- Booted up in DP1
- Opened disk image of DP2 onto the desktop
- Launched the installer. When it prompted me for a volume to install to, I selected a blank partition
- Installed DP2 onto the blank partition (it requires a reboot after the "preparing to install phase" to get to the actual "install" -- Apple should make this clear to users during the installation process that a reboot is part of the normal installation)
- After the installer was finished, it automatically booted up to DP2 and ran the "Welcome to Mac" song. It then began the regular process of registration.
- When it asked if I wished to "migrate over" from another Mac (or volume), I choose to import everything from DP1
- After that, all is well.

Interesting. Instead of jailbreaking, know what I do? I copy my files onto my iOS devices as a backup. No problem. I have several GB of data on both my iPod touch and my iPad.
I have yet to find a single Windows or Linux computer at work that will allow me to simply drag and drop some files onto the device as if it were a mounted drive like any other USB stick or Android/Symbian phone.
It's why the girlfriend has the iPhone4 and I am using Android at the moment (which I am growing to detest for lack of decent VNC options)

Not concerned with the impending refresh? Or do you plan to return and rebuy post-refresh?
I bought an 08 MacBook Aluminum. So No i'm not concerned or care about the upcoming refresh.

Keep up that attitude and continue wondering why no one talks with you as you type on your laptop in the middle of the coffee shop across from De Anza college. Sure, you may have helped get DB2 started and you still work in a DOS window but don't blame your wife for leaving you as you worked late at night too long. How much of the money from the IPO went to family attorney and court fees?
De Anza college? Is that anywhere near Faber College, Flounder?

Are there going to be static downloads of the event? I mean, one I can save to view later? I hate streams, so badly.
I dunno about that. I had hoped you could download it in HD from Apple' website:D , and though it would take 44 days and nights, I'd be willing to do it... But I think we're gonna have to do with something a bit less. To be honest, I don't care about the Keynote. I just want to read about it on MR, and see a more detailed and graphically advanced description of the products on Apple.com a few hours later...

Like MS, the winners pay for the losers. As a trader once told me, you only have to be right 51% of the time to make a profit.

When does anyone think Apple will throw in the rumored Flash mem?
When they get Intels Santa Rosa chipset, since it is going to implement it.
